What do I cut a granite window sill with?

As we mentioned, each window sill must, of course, be perfectly matched to the gap under the window where it is to be located. It is therefore usually necessary to cut it, for which it is essential to use specialized equipment. In particular, tools using diamond blades are recommended in this regard. The activity itself is also best performed using water, which helps minimize the amount of dust. Also, thanks to the use of water during cutting, the stone does not need to be cooled, which speeds up the process itself.

Which adhesive to choose?

Once the sill has been properly cut, it is necessary to select and apply preparations that will allow it to be set precisely. Granite and other stone window sills are usually installed with polyurethane glue, although adhesive mortar, preferably of a proven brand, will also bed well. Another product – although already directly for finishing – will be a gypsum putty. With it, the surface around the sill and the window itself will be prepared for painting. So how do you finally install a granite window sill? After cleaning the gap from dust and other debris, and after applying the adhesive, it should be placed – preferably by two people – under the window. It is also a good idea to leave a gap of about 0.5 centimeters and locate wooden wedges in it. Only after the glue dries are the wedges removed, while the mounting foam is placed in the gap.
