Pebbles are stones that are more or less round, oval or spherical in shape. They are formed by rolling, a morphogenetic process that takes place in the bed of streams, rivers or brooks at the foot of rocky cliffs. The stones, carried by the water current, hit the shore and, through friction and mutual impact, take on their characteristic shape. However, it is very difficult to achieve such an excellent round shape. This is only possible if the rock crumbs have the same resistance to abrasion in all places and in all directions.
